The Microsoft Security Essentials, a free Microsoft antivirus security program which works for the Windows Vista and Windows 7, has always got the place of being a strong option. But this platform has finally made huge changes in it.

The German lab’s recent research has shown that Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) are still not good for protecting your computer’s system. (the contenders like Norton, Bitdefender, Kaspersky Lab, and Trend Micro got the top positions. However, you may have made the right guess about it).

The AV-Test performed the regular evaluations of all the antivirus programs on the various operating system. Presently, the company’s evaluation for MSE was a bit unkind, considering the worst antivirus security program, but the free usability of the program and system impact was said to be fine.

In the recent evaluation test conducted in two rounds during January and February, MSE got a very respectable score of 16.5/18: 5.5/6 in protection services, 5/6 in performance and 6/6 in usability. The software blocked more than 99.3% of various fatal threats and made the 100% defense against different dangerous vulnerabilities.

Even then if you look for the best-paid security, you need to go for the Bitdefender protection antivirus, Norton Security or Kaspersky Internet Security, as they all got 18/18. On the other hand, Microworld eSacn Internet Protection Suite, COMODO Internet Protection Suite, and Intel-McAfee Internet Protection Suite gained 15, 13 and 14.5 score out of 18.

Putting Microsoft aside, all remaining programs which are evaluated during this test earned the score between 16.5 and 14.5 including Avast Free Antivirus, Avira Antivirus Pro, AVG Internet Security, ESET Internet Security, BullGuard Internet Security, and ThreatTrack VIPRE Internet Security Pro. If you own any of this software, you have to worry about the security of your system.

In fact, if you own any of the lowest three ranked program, you may be still secured quite well. Every software gained at least 10 points during the test and got certified from AV-test and many other recommendations. But MSE has done a lot better than any of other malware detection programs.

Any program you select from the list, just remain sure that it must be able to protect your system. Regardless of how much you stay online, it is not possible to avoid each one of the fatal links, so make yourself prepared well for prevent losing your files.
